UMA adds staff to focus on member services

The United Motorcoach Association team is expanding with the addition of Charlotte Simmons to the staff.

Simmons is working at UMA headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. She comes to the role with marketing experience. She’s a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where she earned a degree in Communication: Business Applications.

She will be working closely with Carrington Blake, Director of Meetings & Membership, in preparing for the upcoming 2023 UMA Motorcoach EXPO, with a primary focus on membership recruiting and retention.

“We are excited to have Charlotte join the UMA staff to focus on member services. She will help make sure we are reaching new members and communicating with former members to get them to rejoin UMA,” said UMA President and CEO Scott Michael.

Simmons’ focus will be on serving UMA members by providing an additional point of contact and will help with registering attendees for the UMA Motorcoach EXPO, the UMA Safety Management Seminar, and other programs and services.

Grow Member engagement

“We are looking for ways to grow our engagement with our members and expect Charlotte to bring a lot of new ideas to UMA,” Michael said.

Simmons has quickly become a key part of the weekly UMA Town Hall on Thursday at 2 p.m., providing technical support with the presentation slides. Town Hall is providing an opportunity for Simmons to better understand the issues faced by UMA Members in operating their businesses. She’s looking forward to meeting Members in person at the UMA Motorcoach EXPO in Orlando on Jan. 11-14.

“The first weeks have been a whirlwind. I have learned so much about UMA and the important role the private bus and motorcoach industry play in providing safe transportation, but I know there is so much more to learn,” Simmons. “I’m excited to be part of the team supporting our UMA members and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in sunny Orlando soon.”
