NEW YORK — Trailways has been awarded a multi-year contract with the U.S. Department of Defense to provide passenger transportation services supporting government operations across the United States through 2031.
The multi-million-dollar contract will use Trailways’ network of more than 50 motorcoach companies to provide transportation for a variety of government missions. The company says the agreement reflects its ability to coordinate transportation resources across multiple regions while meeting the safety, reliability and operational standards required by government customers.
The contract will support passenger transportation needs that require flexibility, scalability, and responsiveness across broad geographic areas. Trailways says the agreement combines centralized coordination with localized service delivery.
“With nearly 90 years of operating history and a network of more than 50 independent transportation partners representing over 500 vehicles, Trailways is uniquely positioned to support large-scale transportation requirements wherever they arise,” says Suzanne Thornburg, board chairwoman of Trailways Transportation System. “This award validates not only the strength of our network but the value that independent operators bring to serving customers at a national scale.”
Trailways says the contract also highlights the strength of its network by combining local operational expertise with technology-enabled sales and dispatch capabilities.
Founded in 1936, Trailways is a network of independent motorcoach operators providing scheduled intercity service and group transportation throughout the United States and Canada. Its network operates more than 500 vehicles and serves more than 900 destinations across North America through its own routes and partnerships with Amtrak, FlixBus and Megabus.
