JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. - Motorcoach and trucking industry executive Mike Sodrel plans to make another run for Congress.

Republican Sodrel is gearing up for a fifth consecutive campaign against Democratic Rep. Baron Hill in Indiana's 9th congressional district.

Sodrel said he decided to enter the race because he believes President Barack Obama and the Democrat-controlled Congress "are doing all the wrong things."

Hill and Sodrel have faced each other every two years since 2002.

Sodrel won the seat in 2004, but Hill recaptured it two years later. Hill won again in 2008, with nearly 58 percent of the vote.

Sodrels announcement that hell again seek the Republican nomination to face Hill ends months of speculation.

"The Obama administration and Pelosis Congress are doing all the wrong things," he said. "They have spent the last year on health-care legislation. We need to get the economy back on track. We need to create real jobs, not another huge government bureaucracy.

"And you dont pull a country out of an economic slump by hurting the people who do the hiring. Additional taxes, government takeovers and programs like cap and trade would do just that.

"Ive been in business for years and weve faced hard times before. The way out of those hard times never came from higher taxes or more regulations or a government takeover," Sodrel said.

The Sodrel family businesses include The Free Enterprise System, a motorcoach company, which operates nearly 40 coaches, and Sodrel Truck Lines, both with bases in Jeffersonville.

"For many years," Sodrel said, "Ive worked hard to make my business a success; the same principle countless other small businessmen and women across America follow. These are the same principles that are needed now, more than ever, to return prosperity to America.

"This country needs less government, not more. It needs more liberty, not less. It needs less debt and lower taxes. It needs to return to the founding principles that made our country a great nation, and that will preserve that greatness for our children and our grandchildren. Thats why I am running for Congress," he added.

Sodrel reportedly will have at least two competitors in the primary.
