Hagerstown to host MMA Showcase for the first time

For the first time, the Maryland Motorcoach Association (MMA) Annual Group Leader Travel Showcase and Operators Meeting is coming to Hagerstown, Maryland.

The event, hosted by Visit Hagerstown-Washington County Convention & Visitors Bureau, will welcome 400 attendees from Sept. 22-24 at the Hampton Inn Hagerstown-I-81, and the Hagerstown Aviation Museum.

“We are thrilled to host the MMA board of directors, members, and industry suppliers here in Hagerstown,” said Dan Spedden, president of Visit Hagerstown. “This event is a fantastic opportunity for group travel professionals to learn, network, and experience the best of what Hagerstown has to offer.”

The MMA Annual Showcase brings together group travel professionals in the Mid-Atlantic region. 

“The Maryland Motorcoach Association is eagerly anticipating its 2024 Annual Group Leader Travel Showcase in Hagerstown, and we look forward to exploring the rich and diverse tourism experiences the area has to offer,” said Tim Wilson, president of the MMA. 

The event will include a range of activities, such as:

  • Educational sessions: Workshops on industry trends, tax benefits, insurance, marketing, and legislative updates.
  • Networking opportunities: Chances to connect with professionals, experts, and representatives from Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
  • Vendor showcase: Over 70 vendors will promote group-friendly destinations and attractions.
  • Lunch and variety show: Sponsored by Visit Hagerstown and Visit Frederick, the lunch will be followed by performances from the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Washington County Playhouse, and Antietam Recreation.
  • Familiarization tours: Six themed tours will explore sites such as Fort Ritchie History Museum, Ivy Hill Farm, African American heritage sites, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Maryland Theatre, and Antietam National Battlefield.

The Hagerstown Aviation Museum will play a central role in hosting attendees, offering them insights into the history of Fairchild Aviation. Nearby towns, including Smithsburg, Sharpsburg, Boonsboro, and Hagerstown City, also will highlight their historic sites, museums, dining options, and attractions.
