Freedom Drivers Project debuts at first bus event, Motorcoach EXPO

The United Motorcoach Association will host the Freedom Drivers Project, a unique mobile exhibit highlighting the dangerous realities of human trafficking, for Busing on the Lookout, during UMA Motorcoach EXPO in Fort Lauderdale, Jan. 7-10. The FDP will be available for tours during the hours the EXPO floor is open daily, while Busing on the Lookout Director Annie Sovcik makes presentations and staffs a booth on the EXPO floor.

The Freedom Drivers Project (FDP) is a first-of-its-kind mobile exhibit that is a premiere tool in educating members of the trucking industry and general public about the realities of domestic sex trafficking and how the trucking industry is combating it. From its outside wrap, to the climate controlled interior, which includes a theatre station, actual artifacts from trafficking cases that connect people to the back stories of so many who end up enslaved in our country, to portraits of the real Truckers Against Trafficking and how each is working to end human trafficking, this trailer provides many with their first glimpse into human trafficking, as well as simple action steps anyone can take immediately walking out of it.

“We believe it’s imperative for the entire industry to rally around this important initiative, as each one of us has a role to play in the fight against human trafficking. As the largest annual gathering of bus and motorcoach owners and operators in North America, the UMA EXPO is a perfect location for an exhibit like the FDP that will help inform and educate our members about how they can get involved.”

Nearly 2000 motorcoach industry professionals will gather in the Broward County Convention Center for education, celebration and innovation at the most comprehensive industry trade show and education event in North America. The UMA EXPO offers the largest display of the newest motorcoaches for private operators, innovative products and services for the bus industry, and targeted education designed for professional bus operators and their staff.
