Whitehead, who has more than 25 years of experience with the company, steps into the leadership role following the passing of his father, Mike Whitehead, the company’s founder. He began his career at Distinctive Systems in a support position before transitioning into software development after earning a degree in computing in 2001.

“I am extremely honored to take on the role of managing director,” Whitehead said. “My father built a business that we can all be proud of. It has grown from strength to strength every year, and I am looking forward to continuing this legacy.”

As managing director, Whitehead will oversee strategic direction, operations, and long-term growth initiatives for the U.K.-based company.

Boosting cloud development work

The leadership change comes as Distinctive Systems expands its cloud development capabilities with the addition of two senior full-stack developers. Their arrival brings the total cloud development team to five.

“I am extremely pleased to welcome both Greg and Edward,” Whitehead said. “Their skills will play a key role in advancing our product roadmap. They join a strong team committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions to our clients.”

Development Director Paul McJannett noted the pair bring a combined 35 years of experience in building robust and secure cloud platforms across industries, including compliance and business management systems.

“Their expertise will be instrumental in delivering exciting new features in our next-generation platform,” McJannett said.

Distinctive Systems will also have a presence at the 2025 Pennsylvania Bus Association Annual Conference in Richmond, Virginia on June 16-19. Company representative Eric Elliott is scheduled to attend the event, themed “Timeless Journeys: Bridging History and Horizons Through Motorcoach Travel.” The conference, hosted by Visit Richmond, brings together motorcoach operators, tour planners and industry partners for networking, education and showcasing opportunities.
