JOSEPH, Minn. — Long before they had driver’s licenses, Bethany Bertram and Becca Atkinson were riding along in the family business – sweeping bus floors, answering phones and soaking in lessons on leadership from their father, Tim Schubert.
This summer, the sisters officially took the wheel.
Bertram and Atkinson have purchased Trobec’s Bus Service, the family’s longtime transportation company, from their father, marking a generational handoff at one of Minnesota’s most trusted names in charter and school bus service.

“We are honored to carry on the legacy that the Trobec family and our father have built over the past eight decades,” Bertram said. “Trobec’s has always stood for excellence in transportation, and we look forward to continuing that tradition while embracing innovation and growth.”
Founded in 1938 and based in St. Joseph, Trobec’s has provided safe and dependable transportation to schools, organizations, and communities across Minnesota.
The sisters bring deep personal ties and professional experience to their new roles. They’ve each worked in multiple areas of the business – operations, customer service, and team leadership – giving them a firsthand understanding of the company’s values and day-to-day demands.
“Our employees, customers, and community are at the heart of everything we do,” Atkinson said. “We’re committed to providing the same dependable service people have come to trust while finding new ways to enhance our operations for the future.”
Schubert, who took over the business from previous generations, said he’s proud to pass the torch to his daughters.
“Bethany and Becca have the experience, drive, and vision to lead Trobec’s into the future,” he said. “I couldn’t be more proud.”
