Washington, DC – President Donald J. Trump announced this week that Raymond P. Martinez, chief administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, is his choice to lead the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). The position will require Senate confirmation.

“On behalf of the United Motorcoach Association, we congratulate Raymond Martinez on his nomination,” said UMA President and CEO Stacy Tetschner. “And we urge the Senate to quickly confirm Mr. Martinez so we can commence working together in further improving an already safe industry through mutual cooperation and shared best practices.”
Martinez is no stranger to the nation’s capital, having served in various White House administrative positions for Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush between 1989 and 2005.
The nominee also served as New York State Commissioner of Motor Vehicles under Governor George Pataki from December 2000 to December 2005. Martinez has served as chief administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission since February of 2010, in charge of approximately 2,400 employees at 71 locations throughout the Garden State.
He is a graduate of St. John’s University School of Law and C.W. Post College of Long Island University.
