Prevost coaches recalled to fix dashboard lighting

A recall of 110 Prevost coaches was announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to install a missing component that adjusts instrument panel lighting.

The recall affects some model year 2020  X3-45 VIP, X3-45 Entertainer, X32-45 Passenger, H3-45 VIP and H3-45 Passenger coaches. The defect was identified by Prevost and reported to the government and does not affect vehicles assembled after Sept. 27, 2019.

“Certain vehicles are missing the potentiometer component to adjust the brightness of illumination for controls and indicators. The only level of brightness for identification of controls and indicators is the highest,” the recall notification stated. “During night time vehicle operation, highest level of brightness for identification of controls and indicators may impact the driver attention and road vision and may increase the risk of an accident. Prevost has not received report of accident, death or injury associated with this defect.”

The potentiometer was not installed in the instrument panel by a supplier, Prevost reported. Prevost will remedy the defect by installing the potentiometer component and required wiring.
