SAINTE-CLAIRE, Quebec — Prevost says it holds the largest market share in the North American motorcoach industry, citing sales data from the American Bus Association, while its flagship H3-45 model has become the continent’s best-selling 45-foot coach.
The company, a subsidiary of Volvo Group, said that the H3-45 leads its segment based on vehicle registration data from S&P Global Mobility. The redesigned coach debuted at the United Motorcoach Association’s Motorcoach EXPO in January 2023 and first reached the top sales position that same year, Prevost said. It has led overall coach sales since the second quarter of 2024.

Prevost said the updated H3-45 delivers up to 12% better fuel economy and nearly a 50% reduction in wind noise in the driver area. The coach is powered by a next-generation Volvo D13 engine that the company says runs 6% cleaner than Environmental Protection Agency standards. The redesign also included changes to the driver cockpit, passenger entrance and service access.
“When we introduced the H3-45, we said we re-engineered all aspects of the coach with the customer in mind,” Prevost President François Tremblay said in a statement. “Three years later, the sales have validated that work.”
Emphasis on support
Prevost has built motorcoaches in Sainte-Claire since 1924 and operates a network of service and parts facilities across North America. The company runs 13 company-owned service centers and more than 55 mobile service units in the United States and Canada. Additional service is provided through more than 160 certified locations in Volvo Trucks’ North American dealer network.

The company also offers 24-hour roadside assistance through its Prevost Action Service System (PASS) and deploys mobile service units to customer facilities and large events. Prevost said its service teams support about 10 NASCAR races each year as the official motorcoach provider for the racing series.
Kevin Dawson, Prevost’s vice president of commercial operations, said operators consider operating costs and support infrastructure when selecting coaches.
“Operators aren’t just buying a coach,” Dawson said. “They’re buying the fuel savings, the reduced maintenance costs and the largest service network in the industry behind it.”
Campbell Bus Lines of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, was among the first operators to take delivery of the redesigned H3-45 in March 2023. The company has since added 40 of the coaches to its fleet through January 2026, owner Todd Campbell said.
“The fuel economy improvements and the resale value made the decision easy,” Campbell said.
Georgia Coach Lines in Fayetteville, Georgia, also began adding the model in 2023. By 2025, the company had taken delivery of four coaches from Prevost’s 100th Anniversary Edition lineup, bringing Prevost vehicles to half of its 12-coach fleet, said Chief Operating Officer Clarence E. Cox III.
“The product speaks for itself, but it is the people and the service behind it that keep us coming back,” Cox said.
