NFI Group Inc. has been named one of the best places to work in the Canadian province of Manitoba.
The company, a global leader in bus and motorcoach manufacturing, earned a spot on the “Manitoba’s Top Employers” list for 2025. This annual designation recognizes organizations that lead their industries in workplace excellence. The competition, organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, evaluates businesses based on workplace culture, benefits, career development and community involvement.
“I am incredibly proud of our team members and our company for earning this recognition,” said Paul Soubry, president and CEO of NFI, parent company of Motor Coach Industries (MCI). “This achievement reflects the passion, dedication and hard work of our people, who make NFI not just a great workplace but part of a thriving and supportive community.”

Employers are assessed based on eight categories: workplace, work atmosphere and social engagement, health and family benefits, vacation and time off, employee communications, performance management, training and development, and community involvement.
The competition is organized by Mediacorp Canada Inc., a publisher of employment-related periodicals.
3,000 workers in Manitoba
The selection committee highlighted several reasons for NFI’s inclusion:
- A strong focus on career growth, offering in-house career planning, mentoring, leadership programs and tuition subsidies.
- A commitment to diversity and inclusion, working with community and industry partners to expand talent pipelines.
- Retirement planning assistance with both defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans.
“For more than 90 years, we have remained true to the values that shaped our foundation while evolving to meet the changing needs of our workforce,” said Janice Harper, executive vice president of people and culture at NFI, in a statement. “This award is a testament to our commitment to fostering a workplace where tradition and innovation go hand in hand.”
NFI employs more than 9,000 people across 10 countries, including more than 3,000 in Manitoba. The company’s roots trace back to Winnipeg, where two of its founding businesses — Western Auto and Truck Body Works (which later became New Flyer) and Motor Coach Industries — were established in the early 1930s.
