SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Midwest Bus and Motorcoach Association will hold its 2026 annual convention July 28–29 at the Hilton Garden Inn in South Bend, Indiana, the group announced.
Registration, along with exhibitor and sponsorship opportunities, is open. Discounted room rates are available through July 6, organizers said.
The two-day event will bring together motorcoach owner-operators, safety managers, drivers and maintenance professionals from across the Midwest. Executive Director Cherie Hime, who is organizing her 15th convention, said the gathering has grown significantly since the association’s founding in 2011.
“This event is the only one in the Midwest bringing together owner-operators, safety managers, drivers, and maintenance in the motorcoach industry, creating an important network of relationships,” Hime said. “The network is very often called on to assist with breakdowns, providing additional coaches, and building friendships that last a lifetime.”

The convention will feature educational sessions, networking opportunities, and a driver skills competition. The competition, organized with On Your Mark Transportation LLC, allows drivers from member companies to compete for top honors, with the winner receiving a $250 prize and a scholarship to compete in a national event in 2027.
Mark Szyperski, president and CEO of On Your Mark Transportation, will oversee the competition for the sixth time.
Hime said the competition provides professional development and networking opportunities for drivers.
“Drivers really enjoy the event even if they are concerned or worried they won’t do well,” she said. “Some of them are surprised at how well they did, and they all appreciate the opportunity to test their driving skills. The competition is an opportunity for drivers to fine-tune driving skills in various difficult situations that may occur in their daily travels. They also make new friends, expanding their professional network.”
Vendors, clients get together
The event will also include vendor exhibits, a vendor spotlight presentation, and a speed networking session connecting operators with suppliers.
Kathy Cruse of Sardo Seating said the convention provides exhibitors with an opportunity to meet clients directly.
“As an exhibitor, the show gives us a great opportunity to engage directly with clients, showcase our products, and have real conversations about how we can support their operations,” Cruse said. “It’s important to Sardo to see our customers in person as often as possible and continue building strong relationships. We truly enjoy reconnecting with our friends and valued customers at events like this, and it gives us meaningful time to better understand their needs.

“Sponsoring the conference allows us to support the motorcoach industry while also strengthening our presence within it. We believe in investing in local and national associations so they can continue to grow and thrive,” she added.
Operator members will also participate in education sessions, an annual business meeting, and a maintenance interchange designed for technicians. The convention will conclude with a visit to True Path Specialty Vehicles in nearby Elkhart, followed by dinner.
Speakers are still being finalized, but are expected to include representatives from federal and industry organizations, as well as sessions on leadership and roadside inspections.
Dennis Streif, owner of Vandalia Bus Lines, said the convention provides valuable industry insight.
“The MBMCA Annual Convention provides excellent updates on legislative issues, potential threats, and opportunities within our industry. It helps to create and maintain relationships with other regional operators away from your typical work environment,” Streif said.
