CHICAGO — Jefferson Lines will launch intercity bus service to communities in Illinois, assuming service previously operated by Burlington Trailways.
The new service will begin Sept. 28, continuing the company’s long-standing transportation service to Illinois and across the Midwest.
The service provides connections to such cities as Bloomington, Champaign, Danville, Galesburg, Moline, Normal, Peoria and Quincy.
Jefferson Lines will maintain many existing schedules and stop locations.

“Jefferson Lines has prioritized a smooth transition with no disruption in service,” said Kevin Pursey, director of operations. “Passengers can expect the reliable schedules and convenient stops they depend on, now supported by Jefferson Lines’ modern amenities and extensive Midwest network.”
Additionally, some locations offer direct connections to Amtrak service.
Burlington Trailways will discontinue its scheduled intercity bus operations on Sept. 27, citing a combination of rising insurance costs, pressures from an outdated federal funding formula for rural transportation, and uncertainties in key partnerships (including with Greyhound), according to news reports. The company also is laying off dozens of employees across several locations as part of the shutdown.
Jefferson Lines offers a range of modern conveniences, including complimentary Wi-Fi, a real-time bus tracker, and booking and rebooking through Jefferson Lines customer accounts. Travelers can also access services with a mobile app for iOS and Android devices. In addition, a customer care team is available to provide support.
