8 OEMs will showcase their latest vehicles at ’22 UMA EXPO

The 2022 UMA Motorcoach EXPO in Long Beach, California, on Feb. 23-26 will boast a show floor with eight original equipment manufacturers displaying their latest vehicles and advanced technologies.

UMA Motorcoach EXPO is the premier equipment and education trade show for the North American motorcoach industry, which is bouncing back from shutdowns during COVID-19.

With consumers eager to begin traveling again, this event will be the best opportunity for private ground transportation professionals to meet in person with the leading product and service providers who can help them with their business needs.

UMA President & CEO Scott Michael says he’s “excited to be at my first UMA EXPO and to see the show returning to normal with so many vehicles that will be featured on the show floor. People come to EXPO to see the big equipment and the latest onboard technologies, and with eight manufacturers, the 2022 Motorcoach EXPO promises to really deliver for our attendees.”

More vehicles on display

Eight OEMs — Daimler Coaches North America, BYD Motors Inc., Prevost, Irizar USA LLC, Temsa, ABC Companies,  Motor Coach Industries, and Executive Coach Builders — are taking much larger blocks of showroom space than at the 2021 EXPO in Orlando, Florida. Combined, this OEM space will allow for 16 or more coaches to be displayed, says David A. Petrillo, Senior Managing Director at Naylor Association Solutions, the firm that coordinates the show for the United Motorcoach Association.

Petrillo says demand has been high for the EXPO, with 80% of the space sold.

“There was a lot of commitment to have a successful 2021 show among all the challenges of the pandemic,” Petrillo said. “And now, as we’re heading into more rebuilding for the industry, the level of commitments coming back for EXPO 2022 is encouraging.

“We look forward to providing a platform that brings operators and industry vendors together to connect and prepare for continued growth in the market,” he said.

The theme for this year’s EXPO is “Reconnecting,” reflecting the opportunity to gather for an upbeat, in-person event as the motorcoach industry returns to the road, fueled by optimism for the future of travel.

Appealing venue

Traditionally, UMA EXPO events held in California have had the largest turnouts, according to Petrillo. He added that the Long Beach Convention Center’s location, near the oceanfront and other destinations, makes it an appealing venue.

The facility has more than 400,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space.

“It just provides that unique platform to really bolster engagement,” Petrillo said. “Every trade show is all about engagement. The layout of this convention center, and how everything is very close together, from hotels to restaurants, really lends itself to be that perfect platform to foster maximum engagement.”

Space in the exhibit hall is selling quickly, with vendors securing their space and planning for rebounding sales in 2022.
