Trailways.com adds international service connecting Michigan and Ontario

Trailways.com is resuming an international route that will provide daily service between Detroit and Toronto for the first time since 2021. During the pandemic, transportation providers dropped the route when Canada closed its borders to non-citizens. The country ended COVID-19-related restrictions in October 2022.

The tickets for the route will be available for purchase online at Trailways.com and Trailways.ca, with prices starting at $45. The first trips depart on April 5

“We are incredibly excited to bring Trailways’ affordable, comfortable, and eco-friendly service to Ontario and Michigan,” said Alex Berardi, President of Trailways.com. “This service marks our second route from Toronto and our first entry into Detroit, the ‘Motor City,’ something we are particularly excited about.”

Connections will reach across the U.S.

Trailways of New York will operate the new express route, using its low-emission motorcoaches, which feature complimentary wi-fi, onboard restrooms, and seating for persons with disabilities. The four daily trips will allow travelers leaving Detroit to reach the Ontario cities of London, Chatham, Windsor, and Toronto.

Customers departing Toronto will now be able to reach Detroit directly and, after the service is fully launched, other Ontario cities such as London, Chatham, and Windsor. Connections will allow customers departing Ontario to reach Chicago and other major cities throughout the United States.

The announcement follows Trailways’ introduction of daily service connecting Toronto and New York City one year ago. The Toronto-to-Detroit market had been left without daily transportation options since 2021.
