WINNIPEG, Manitoba — NFI Group Inc. announced Thursday that Rob Marion has been appointed president of Motor Coach Industries, effective immediately.
Marion, a nearly 30-year veteran of NFI, will report to company President and CEO John Sapp. He most recently served as vice president of fabrication, overseeing manufacturing operations, quality and performance across multiple facilities in North America.

The appointment follows a transitional period during which former NFI President and CEO Paul Soubry served as interim president of MCI until his retirement in January 2026.
NFI said Marion will assume full responsibility for MCI’s sales, engineering, manufacturing and service operations as the company re-establishes MCI as a standalone business unit. NFI combined its New Flyer and MCI operations in 2020 to address challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and global supply chain disruptions.
Sapp said the leadership change reflects improving market conditions and positions MCI for growth.
“Rob’s deep operational experience and long-standing commitment to NFI make him the ideal person to lead the next chapter of MCI,” Sapp said.
Marion said he plans to focus on improving quality, customer experience and aftermarket support.
“MCI vehicles move thousands of people safely and reliably across the U.S. and Canada every day,” he said. “We will continue to build on that performance while strengthening our position as a preferred partner for motorcoach operators.”
NFI, based in Winnipeg, is a global manufacturer of buses and coaches with more than 9,000 employees across 10 countries. The company produces transit and coach vehicles through brands including New Flyer, MCI and Alexander Dennis, and supports an installed base of more than 100,000 vehicles worldwide.
