Video Recounts History of Cyr Bus Line

For more than a century, John T. Cyr & Sons Inc. (Cyr Bus Line) has provided quality transportation to the residents of Maine and offered assistance and service to other bus operators passing through the area. Joe Cyr, who is edging toward retirement, has long been a stalwart in the region, someone that other operators counted on when they ran trips to Maine.

Cyr Bus Line is a family-owned and -operated company active in virtually every aspect of passenger transportation, from yellow buses and charter and tour coaches to a line run into northern Maine. It has developed a video that highlights the history and people that have made them successful. In addition, it demonstrates what can be done on a marketing level to build and maintain relationships with customers.

Produced by Joe’s daughter Becky Cyr Whitmore, the video offers insight into the soul and values that have made the company a prosperous and happy place to work through four generations of family management. Other family-owned companies might relate to the documentary and learn from the company’s 100-plus years of experience. A member of the fifth generation is already working at the company.

The video can be seen at vimeo.com/302690054 or in the new resources tab at the Museum of Bus Transportation’s website at busmuseum.org/family-owned-bus-co-remembrances/.
