DES PLAINES, Ill. — Motor Coach Industries has delivered a new motorcoach to Rustad Tours, marking the 17th new MCI coach purchased by the family-owned Minnesota operator since the companies began their partnership more than four decades ago.
The coach was delivered May 15 as part of Rustad Tours’ fleet replacement strategy to support the expansion of tour operations throughout the United States and Canada.
Based in Kerkhoven, Minnesota, Rustad Tours operates four MCI coaches as part of a 25-vehicle fleet that includes motorcoaches, school buses, mini-coaches and vans.

“We continue to invest in equipment that enhances the travel experience for our passengers,” owner Thomas Rustad said. “MCI’s premium offerings align with the needs of our operation, from advanced onboard technology to passenger comfort features.”
The new coach has leather seating, enhanced display screens, advanced cabin air purification and a seating layout that provides additional legroom.

The purchase continues a relationship that began in 1985 when Rustad Tours acquired its first MCI MC-9. Now led by third-generation owner Thomas Rustad, the company traces its roots to 1947 and has grown into a tour and charter operator serving destinations across North America.
Rustad Tours received the United Motorcoach Association’s Vision Award for Small Operators in 2020 and is a member of the American Bus Association, United Motorcoach Association, National Tour Association and Minnesota Charter Bus Operators Association.
MCI, a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc., manufactures motorcoaches for the private and public transportation markets and provides aftermarket parts, service, roadside assistance and technician training throughout North America.
