ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. — Motorcoach operators, industry leaders and government officials gathered Sept. 17 as Prevost cut the ribbon on a new $8.1 million Chicago-area service center designed to expand support for operators throughout the Midwest.
Prevost President François Tremblay welcomed the large group of customers and dignitaries to the Elk Grove Village facility, located west of O’Hare International Airport. He highlighted the center’s expanded service capabilities and customer amenities compared with Prevost’s former location about 5 miles away.
United Motorcoach Association President and CEO Scott Michael spoke about the importance of the motorcoach industry and the maintenance technicians whose work helps keep buses operating safely and reliably.
Local officials, including Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson and the Illinois Senate president, welcomed Prevost and its employees. A delegation of Quebec provincial officials also attended and highlighted the facility as an example of growing business ties between Quebec and Illinois.
Located near O’Hare and several major expressways, the center provides Midwest motorcoach operators with a larger option for service, repairs and parts support. The 29,000-square-foot facility replaces Prevost’s former 9,000-square-foot location.
Parts storage has increased from 800 square feet to nearly 15,000 square feet, while the number of service bays has grown from three to five.
The service center will be supported by 10 mobile service vans and a technician available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Prevost also plans to introduce extended operating hours. The facility also includes a customer lounge and leased parking for 60 vehicles.
“This expansion reflects Prevost’s commitment to strengthening its service network in 2026 and 2027,” said Kevin Dawson, vice president of commercial operations. “Through this investment, Prevost is enhancing service capacity, improving the customer experience and helping keep coaches on the road.”
“With significantly more space, greater service capacity and a location designed around customer convenience,” said Branch Manager Rob Senne, “we are well-positioned to deliver the high level of support Prevost customers count on.”
Building international ties
Johnson said the $8 million investment reflects the strength of the village’s business community and its ability to attract global companies.
“As part of the Volvo Group and a leader in the motorcoach industry, Prevost is a tremendous addition to Elk Grove Village,” Johnson said, “and we look forward to supporting their continued growth and success.”
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker said the expanded operation establishes Elk Grove Village as an important part of Prevost’s North American service network.
“With proximity to Illinois’ world-class infrastructure and transportation network, including O’Hare International Airport and major expressways, Elk Grove Village offers the connectivity global companies need to grow and serve customers across the region,” Pritzker said, emphasizing that the investment “will build on Illinois’ strong economic partnership with Quebec.”
Jean-François Hould, Quebec’s delegate to the Midwest, said bilateral trade between Quebec and Illinois has grown by more than 40% during the past five years, reaching $3.8 billion in 2025.
“This new facility underscores the strength of the longstanding Quebec-Midwest partnership,” Hould said.
The Illinois opening is part of a broader expansion of Prevost’s service network. The company is adding a mobile service unit in Las Vegas and developing a service facility in Randleman, North Carolina, expected to open in early 2027.
Prevost, part of the Volvo Group, manufactures premium intercity touring coaches and high-end motorhome and specialty conversion coaches. Its manufacturing facilities are in Sainte-Claire, Quebec.
