OurBus adds routes to NYC, southern Jersey Shore

OurBus, a tech company specializing in crowdsourced intercity and commuter bus routes, is adding new routes from New York City to Jersey Shore, Philadelphia to Jersey Shore and Slippery Rock/Pittsburgh to New York.

Philadelphia to southern Jersey Shore

The OurBus route to the southern Jersey Shore will begin at NRG Station and make a stop in Galloway, New Jersey, at the Frank Sinatra Service Area.  Passengers will then switch to a luxury SUV or sprinter van (to Absecon, Margate, and Ventnor, New Jersey) or minibus shuttle vehicle (to Ocean City and Wildwood, New Jersey) which will connect them to their destinations.

The route from Philadelphia to the Jersey Shore will run Thursday through Monday, with fares starting at $59 one way, and shore point stops in the town centers near the beach.

NYC to the southern Jersey Shore

OurBus’ new route between Manhattan and points on the southern Jersey Shore begins May 19. The company promises customers the only direct bus service to the region with more scheduled service than any other transportation company in the market, and with the fastest travel time for beach-bound travelers.

The route to the southern Jersey Shore will begin in midtown Manhattan at 51st Street and Broadway. It will make a stop in Galloway, New Jersey, at the Frank Sinatra Service Area. Passengers will then switch to a luxury SUV or sprinter van (to Absecon, Margate, and Ventnor, New Jersey) or minibus shuttle vehicle (to Ocean City and Wildwood, New Jersey) which will connect them to their destinations.

The route from New York to the Jersey Shore will run Thursday through Monday. Fares will start at $59 one way, and shore point stops will be located in the town centers near the beach.

Slippery Rock to NYC

OurBus added new runs between Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, and Manhattan on May 12. The route offers the least expensive fares to New York City among competitive ground carriers, according to the company.

“College students and residents haven’t had a direct bus route that runs from Slippery Rock to New York City for over 30 years – and OurBus offers them a new, customer-friendly option,” says Akram, the OurBus CEO. 

The OurBus route runs four days a week from Slippery Rock starting on Thursdays and four days a week from New York starting on Fridays. 

The route originates in Slippery Rock (258 Grove City Road) and stops for passenger pickups in Pittsburgh (10th Street and Penn), Breezewood (Gateway Travel Plaza), Harrisburg (Chestnut Street between South 4th and Dewberry), Philadelphia (1220 Filbert Street), and ends at Javits Center in Manhattan. The route back to Slippery Rock from Manhattan originates at the West Side of Manhattan.

OurBus fares on the Slippery Rock/NYC route start at $25.

Amenities

Amenities include complimentary bottled water, free Wifi, and USB ports at each seat. The buses are contracted with independent coach services and are premium, charter-style motor coaches.

Safety protocols include cleaning/disinfecting of each bus consistent with CDC guidelines at the completion of each trip.

The company touts “significant flexibility” for its riders by letting them rebook or cancel trips on the day of departure. Funds can be loaded into a wallet on the OurBus app. OurBus Select, which is the company’s rider discount program, is available for both families and frequent travelers.

OurBus currently provides bus services in over 100 markets across the country and has garnered top reviews from satisfied passengers on a variety of sites, including Trustpilot, Facebook, GotoBus, and Wanderu.
