NFI announces leadership changes to strengthen MCI operations

NFI Group Inc. has announced leadership changes aimed at strengthening operations at Motor Coach Industries (MCI), part of its strategic initiative, Project Focus.

Project Focus, launched to improve quality and operational excellence across NFI’s North American manufacturing operations, includes re-establishing MCI as a distinct business unit under the direct leadership of Paul Soubry, NFI’s president and CEO.

As part of the initiative, Tom Wagner has been promoted to vice president of private sector sales and service for MCI and will lead sales, field service, marketing and service centers operations. Wagner, who previously was director of private sector sales, succeeds Brent Maitland, who is leaving NFI to become CEO of All Aboard America Holdings Inc.

“Tom’s leadership capabilities and deep understanding of our products, business and customers make him the ideal successor to build on the foundation Brent established,” Soubry says. “Project Focus is to provide MCI with the dedicated leadership and resources needed to excel, and this leadership transition represents another step in strengthening our organization.”

In addition to Wagner’s promotion, Shane Zaenali has been named vice president of MCI operations. Zaenali will oversee manufacturing at MCI’s Winnipeg and Pembina facilities.

Soubry had praise for the departing Maitland.

“I want to thank Brent for his significant contributions to MCI and NFI,” Soubry says. “During his long tenure, Brent has helped strengthen our market position and customer relationships while developing a strong team capable of continuing this momentum.”
