Motorcoach sales in the first quarter of 2019 were almost identical to sales in first quarter 2018. The Motorcoach Builder Survey, released by the American Bus Association Foundation, showed there were 632 coaches sold versus 621 in 2018.
However, there were more pre-owned vehicles sold in the first quarter of 2019 than there were the previous year—223 compared to 191 in 2018. Sales of 45-foot motorcoaches dominated; however, 35- to 45-foot coaches saw a 53 percent gain over last year’s sales.
Similarly, though large group travel makes up the majority of bus trips, operators are increasingly accommodating small groups looking for a more customized trip.
