Maintenance Competition comes to EXPO Show Floor for 2019

The 2019 Motorcoach EXPO show floor is getting an amazing new attraction this January. For the first time, the annual Maintenance Competition will take place in the Exhibit Hall, allowing attendees to see this exciting competition among top technicians without leaving the Convention Center.

The nation’s top motorcoach mechanics will complete the diagnostic component of the competition in the Exhibit Hall of the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, from 7:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The written test will be administered the day before, at the conclusion of the Maintenance Interchange.

The Maintenance Competition is always a highlight of EXPO because of the mission-critical role the motorcoach mechanic plays in keeping fleets running safely and efficiently. Two runners-up and a Grand Champion will be recognized at the UMA Leadership Awards Celebration on the evening of the competition, and each will receive a trophy and cash award supplied by ABC Companies, which sponsors this competition.

Last year’s Grand Champion, Dave Meyerhofer of Kobussen Trailways in Kaukauna, Wis., took home a check for $2,500 and a newly designed trophy commemorating his big win. Roman Cornell, Executive Vice President and COO of ABC Companies, presented the trophy and check to Meyerhofer, calling motorcoach mechanics “the unsung heroes of our industry.”

Those interested in participating must register for EXPO and may sign up for the competition and Interchange on the EXPO registration form. For more information, go to www.motorcoachexpo.com or call UMA at (703) 838-2929. Early Bird Registration rates end on Sept. 21, 2018.
