Cathy Gautreaux, second in command behind FMCSA Administrator Ray Martinez is leaving the agency to take another position. She is being replaced by Alan Hanson, deputy chief of staff for Transportation Secretary Elizabeth Chao.
The news agency Politico reported that Gautreaux was stepping down for a job elsewhere in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Highway Traffic Safety Administration. No reason was given for her departure, but the job shift was confirmed by FMCSA.
Gautreaux was appointed by President Trump and Secretary Chao in 2017. Her main duties were managing the day to day operations of the agency.
