European entertainer operator bringing double-deckers to U.S.

Beat the Street, an Austrian entertainer coach operator, has established a base in Tennessee to offer tour service with double-decked Van Hool motorcoaches. The operator also will offer service on Prevost X3 motorcoaches.

Beat the Street boasts of carrying entertainers including AC/DC, Lionel Richie, Mötley Crüe, Paul McCartney, Beyoncé and Queen on European tours. Its announcement said it has “an exclusive deal with Belgian supplier Van Hool” to operate the double-deckers in the U.S.

“Double-deckers are not yet used in the states for touring, but their additional capacity is well known to those U.S. tour managers who use them with us in Europe and the UK,” said Jörg Philipp, managing director and owner of Beat the Street. “American clients have been asking us for many years to run our buses in the states. Our first building phase of 24-plus buses will run through 2020, with more to come.”

The double-deckers are configured with 16 or 14 bunks on the upper level and the same number of seating positions on the first level. There is more lounge and living space than on a regular 12-berth single-deck motorcoach.

The company “has already secured several key tours for 2020,” Philipp said.
