BAE Systems has been selected by Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) and the Republic of Ireland’s National Transport Authority (NTA) to supply up to 600 electric power and propulsion systems for a new fleet of buses in Ireland. The initial order covers 100 systems.
BAE’s Series-ER system uses global positioning software to switch the buses to full electric mode when they are passing through designated low- and zero-emission zones. BAE said the technology is powering more than 200 buses around the world in cities including Boston and San Francisco.
