PHOENIX -- SuperShuttle International Inc., the largest airport ground transportation company in the U.S., has acquired two California airport shuttle services.

The purchases are the latest in an acquisition program that began this past summer after SuperShuttle was acquired by Veolia Transportation Inc. of Oak Brook, Ill.

Veolia is the largest provider of passenger ground transportation services in North America, with bus, rail, shuttle and paratransit systems in more than 120 locations in the US and Canada.

Acquired by SuperShuttle last month were M&M Luxury Shuttle Inc. in San Francisco and Minibus Systems Inc. in Ontario, Calif.

In September, SuperShuttle announced it had acquired Cloud 9 in San Diego and Kansas City (Mo.) Transportation Group.

M&M Luxury Shuttle operated 15 vans and is being rolled into the existing SuperShuttle operation in San Francisco.

Minibus Systems, an 80-van service that as been operating under the SuperShuttle name through a franchise arrangement, becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of SuperShuttle Los Angeles.

The acquisition of Cloud 9 includes 105 vans and sedans, most operated by franchisees.

The Kansas City Transportation Group acquisition included the operation of Kansas City Yellow Cab, Carey Limousine & KCI Shuttle. The fleet includes roughly 300 taxis, 55 airport shuttles, 35 paratransit vehicles and 45 limousines and livery vehicles.

Much of the Kansas City operation is being expanded into the SuperShuttle service model and brand. Other brands within the group, such as Yellow Cab, will remain under the same brand names.

In March, SuperShuttle also made a small shuttle acquisition in Denver.

SuperShuttle, which is based in Phoenix, operates as a division of Veolia Transportation On Demand and is a subsidiary of Veolia Environment, the large environmental, energy, hazardous waste management, water and transportation services company based in Paris, France. SuperShuttle serves 27 airports.
