SAN FRANCISCO Bauers Intelligent Transportation is one of 80 Port of San Francisco tenants that are moving to make way for the Americas Cup finals in San Francisco Bay next year.

Another high-profile tenant thats relocating is Teatro ZinZanni, which during the past decade has become one of San Franciscos most popular entertainment features. In 2008, the cabaret was the venue for the VIP Party hosted by Prevost Car during UMA Motorcoach Expo 2008.

Finding new homes for both Bauers Transportation and Teatro ZinZanni presented particular challenges for the city's Office of Economic and Workforce Development.

But last month, a costumed performance troupe and San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee stood in a parking lot on the citys waterfront with executives from both businesses to announce they had secured properties and will preserve the jobs in San Francisco.

"They were worried from the beginning, as they should have been and as I would have been if I were a small business owner," Lee said at a news conference announcing the relocations.

Bauers is moving to space at Pier 50 (from Pier 27, The Embarcadero), which is a few blocks south of AT&T Park.

Bauers founder and CEO, Gary Bauer, told a local newspaper he was delighted by the pending move.

"We really think its a great opportunity," he said.

Bauer founded his company more than 20 years ago and employs more than 200 people. Three years ago, Bauers was recognized with the "Green Highway" award from the United Motorcoach Association, and in 2010 it won the UMA Vision Award.

Bauer will be exhibiting the Bauers Solar Hybrid Bus Powering System at UMA Motorcoach Expo 2012 in Long Beach, Calif., next month.

The new Teatro ZinZanni location will at the foot of Broadway, where a new structure is being built. The cabaret has been at Pier 27 since its founding in 2000 and employs more than 100.

Teatro ZinZanni founder Norman Langill said he was thrilled to move into the new space, which he noted was the gate to the city and the beginning of the Barbary Coast during the Gold Rush of the late 1840s.

Teatro ZinZanni, Bauers and nearly 80 other businesses on port property were told they would need to move to make way for the July-September 2013 yacht races that culminate with the Americas Cup finals.
